Bedminster Down School

Challenge ‘24’

Starting in September ’17 every child in Year 9 (current Year 8) will be given the opportunity to spend 24hrs in small groups exploring Dartmoor & taking part in a number of Key Skills Challenges as well as a field study of the archaeology & ecology of the area. This will be cost free to all parents with the school providing much of the equipment that you child will require to sustain them over 24hrs. Your child has been given a letter to bring home with further information for you to read. The letter is attached.

Our aim is to ensure that your child has an enjoyable 24hrs insight into Dartmoor, hiking and wild camping and is inspired to return again in the future, possibly as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, a Ten Tors training team or just their own personal fulfilment. You will be informed closer to the date that your child has been selected to attend with further information.

Finally, there will be a Parent’s Q & A session at the school on Thursday 7th September from 1700hrs – 1800hrs which you are very welcome to attend.
